Diplomate

The Diplomate collection was created by the designers of Maison Haviland in the 1900s. The floral and ornamental motifs used for the decoration are unmistakably French but their extreme finesse and arrangement reveal the influences of Japonism at the beginning of the century. The reliefs of the design are treated using the ancient technique of inlay. This exceptional craftsmanship allows the porcelain to be finely chiselled, giving the gold its distinct and incomparable relief. The brilliant gold is obtained by two successive gildings and agate burnishing. In 1938, Haviland adapted this decoration for a commission from President Roosevelt.
